'CITY UNSEEN' - A New
‘CITY UNSEEN’ – A New [AR]t Experience | Fall 2018
* OCTOBER 5 (7-10 PM) : Opening night at Snap! Space.
* OCTOBER 6 : Projection mapping, Downtown Orlando and tour of site specific experiences in Orlando (Downtown & Mills 50).
In October 2018, Snap! Orlando unveils ‘CITY UNSEEN’, an ongoing public art project with locations across Orlando that ignites the local landscape. This project opens artistic borders by launching the city and its visitors into Augmented Reality [AR] experiences, which captivates the audience with brilliant fusions of works by internationally renowned artists and cutting-edge AR technology. Experiences include murals coming to life, a projection mapping finding permanence into the virtual world, and a teleport bringing the viewer into a 360 degree visit of the artist’s Los Angeles studio.
Artists include Miami multi disciplinary artist Felice Grodin, Turkish digital artist Can Büyükberber, Los Angeles artist Nancy Baker Cahill, German street artist Mark Gmehling, Central Florida installation artists Mark Gerstein and Synthestruct, among others.
A ‘CITY UNSEEN’ App allows users to enjoy the full range of art installations and immersive AR experiences at each installation site. CITY UNSEEN will position Orlando as a pioneer with a new vision for the fusion of art and technology in the 21st century and serve as a platform for discussion about social, cultural, and environmental issues affecting those around us.
Produced and curated by Snap! Orlando, a leading Florida contemporary art organization with the mission to boldly increase the visibility and appreciation of the photographic arts and digital medium as significant cultural art forms.
This project is funded in part by Orange County Government through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Program.
